occupational therapy and capacity building
Our Occupational Therapists are able to provide therapy for clients to help them achieve specific goals. This is also called Capacity Building.
Therapy / Capacity Building involves:
- An Initial Assessment to assess your client's capacity and needs as well as to develop goals.
- Regular sessions to build skills in line with these goals.
Therapy services are usually completed in the client's home, as the environment and tools involved are a key part of successful therapy outcomes. Occasionally therapy is performed in clinic, but is then generalise to a home or community setting.
Our Occupational Therapists use Outcome Measures, for example the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM); or the Care and Needs Scale (CANS) to review progress. This ensures that we can adapt and modify therapy each session to maximise benefits and minimise unnecessary therapy costs.
We recognise that sometimes regular therapy is not needed or funding for this is not available. On these occasions, our occupational therapists can complete an assessment and from there provide training or resources to the participant and/ or others involved.
