How Can a Psychologist help

Our psychology team is dedicated to helping adolescents and adults with a disability identify their strengths, address their barriers, and develop their skills so that they can achieve their personal goals and aspirations. 


Following an initial assessment, our psychologists provide personalised, evidence-based interventions for:

· Autism spectrum disorders

· Emotional regulation including promoting resilience and coping skills

· Prosocial behaviour and friendships

· Behavioural difficulties and disorders- managing challenging behaviours across settings including behaviour associated with oppositional defiance disorder

· Anxiety and phobias

· Depression

· Anger management

· Grief and loss

· Trauma focussed interventions

· Dealing with divorce and parental separation


Our Psychologists can also assist you with a range of formal assessments  for cognition, intelligence, learning disabilities and autism.

Psychological assessments

Psychological Assessments are evidence-based assessments used to provide useful information for a wide range of issues. 


These include: 

· Identifying the type and severity of any difficulties present 

  • Assessing for any cognitive difficulty and planning an informed treatment plan 
  • Assessing and diagnosing a range of Specific Learning Disorders 
  • Assessing and providing a treatment plan for a wide range of Behaviour and Behaviour disorders 
  • To access funding under the NDIS 
  • To determine what accommodations are needed in a classroom and at home


Our psychology team have been trained to administer a range of standardised psychological assessments, including:


Cognitive assessment (also known as an IQ assessment) is a specialised assessment of intellectual strengths and weaknesses. Its purpose is to establish academic potential and assist in the diagnosis of specific learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities, or areas of giftedness.


IQ- Intelligence Quotient Assessment 

What it involves: 

- Cognitive (IQ) Assessment

- Report Preparation 


Intellectual Disability Assessment 

What it involves: 

- Cognitive (IQ) Assessment

- Adaptive assessment- completed by caregiver 

- Report Preparation


Specific Learning Disability assessment (Dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia)

What it involves: 

- Cognitive (IQ) Assessment 

- Achievement (WIAT-IV)

- Report Preparation


Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment 

An Autism Diagnostic Assessment can help parents and caregivers understand their child’s behaviour and support early intervention. Our psychologists are trained in assessing for Autism Spectrum Disorder and utilise a range of assessment tools.

The ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) is considered the “gold standard” standardised diagnostic tool for  Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This test can be administered for individuals as young as 12 months of age all the way to adulthood

- Functional Assessment

Clinic or Home Visits


Our Psychologists can provide clinic consultations, Telehealth consultations or visit you at home, which ever suits your situation and lifestyle.


Funding Options


We are registered with the NDIS for those who have access to NDIS funding otherwise sessions can be paid for privately or also rebated through Medicare.


We are also registered to provide psychological services under SIRA.
